Irish Cultural Society

of San Antonio Texas

The May 1st meeting of the Irish Cultural Society was called
to order by President Lou Kelley at 3:15pm.
Sister Carmel gave the invocation and
Lou led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved
as read, with Jane making the motion.
Bob Barron, treasurer, reported that there is a lot of
activity this month, but because both Irish Heritage Day and
the annual dance were just one week ago, he is still paying
bills and expecting more to come in. The June treasurer's
report should be the final accounting for our activities
this year.
The ICS president reported he received no bills, claims or
correspondence this past month. He gave us an update on Mary
Sweeney, who will be leaving Sorrento in the next day or two.
When he has a new address for her, he will let us know.
Kay reported that Maureen is doing very well. She said that
only 6 tickets had been sold for the Celtic Woman concert on
May 10th, and she needs to sell 10 tickets to qualify for
the group discount.

Under Old Business, Jane McDaniel requested a board meeting
as a de-briefing on last Sunday's Irish Heritage Day and
annual dance.
None of the three members of the nominating committee were
in attendence at today's meeting, so Susan gave an update on
the slate for the June election.
Jane reported that our sponsorship of the SAGAC runs through
Jan 2017, so no one from SAGAC will be speaking at our
meeting today.
Kay introduced her family who are in attendance today to see
her grandson, Patrick, receive his scholarship check. John's
grandson, Carter, will also be receiving a scholarship check
today. In attendance are his mother and her two sisters.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:36pm for refreshments, after
which the winning scholarship essays will be read and the
scholarship checks presented to Patrick and Carter.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan S. Feeley
ICS Secretary
