Irish Cultural Society

of San Antonio Texas

The business meeting of the Irish Cultural Society was called
to order by President Lou Kelley at 3:15pm. Sister Gabriella
gave the invocation, followed by Lou leading us in the Pledge
of Allegiance.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as
read, with Henry moving and Joan seconding the motion. There
were no social or treasurer reports today. The ICS received
no correspondence during the past month. There are 14 members
and 2 guests in attendance at today’s meeting.

Both Betsy and Nelson are now in need of our prayers and good
thoughts as they deal with health issues.

Under New Business Joan asked if we have acquired any new
members after Irish Heritage Day. Lou said he had several
show interest, but no one new has come to a meeting yet. A
rundown was given on the names of volunteers already on the
ballot for June. We have two positions up for election for
which there are no candidates. Joan volunteered to help out
with publicity if the position remains open and if Lou would
like her assistance. An appeal was made to the attending
members to help fill the open positions, either by volunteering
themselves or giving suggestions of ICS members who would be
good candidates for the positions.

Also under new business, Lucille suggested that we have more
music programs and perhaps programs about different family &
clan history.

It was announced that the Lion and Rose on Sonterra has closed
but a new one will be opening at the Rim soon. Eva said that
the TipTop Restaurant on Fredericksburg Road is opening a new
place on the northeast side of town in the next few months.
The original restaurant will remain open.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:50, Joan making the motion and
Merita seconding, to be followed by refreshments and a program
about Irish and Scottish pipes given by a young piper who lives
in New Braunfels.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan S. Feeley
ICS Secretary
