Minutes - ICS Meeting - November 8th, 2015

The November meeting of the Irish Cultural Society
was called to order by President Lou Kelley at 3:36pm.
The Parlor Room was not unlocked when we arrived,
and that is what caused the extra delay in beginning
the meeting. Thanks to Father Kevin for coming to
our rescue with his key.
There was no treasurerís report today, as Bob was
absent. There were no bills or claims to report
today either. The minutes of the previous meeting
were read, and approved as read.
Lou noted that we lost longtime ICS member Bridget
Molloy on October 31st, the day after her 85th
Kay gave us an update on the status of both Bob and
Gloria Walsh, and she has their contact information
if you would like it. She also told us that we have
two new members, but neither of them was in attendance
today. She said that Riverdance tickets have sold
well to our membership for the February 28th evening
performance. At todayís meeting we have 28 members
and no guests.
Social chair Ethna reported that she has one person
signed up already for the Christmas dinner, and asks
that we fill out our dinner preference forms and
send in our checks as quickly as we can.
Librarian said she had brought a selection from the
ICS library for checkout today. There is nothing to
report for scholarship yet. That will occur after
the holidays.
Lou reported that we donated $200 towards the nunsí
benefit held two nights ago.
Jane, our publicity chair, shared that 145 tickets
were sold for the benefit, that over $6,000 was
raised, and that more than 400 people showed up for
the ceili. Joan added that 30 or so people showed
up that night after reading the notice in the
There is no old business today, nor is there any
new business to discuss.
Jane announced that there would be a storytelling
evening, Tellabration 2015, at the Raindrop Turkish
House on Vance Jackson on November 14th from 7
until 9pm. There will be participants from six
continents and 46 countries. We are all welcome
to come.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:55 with John and
Ethna moving and seconding the motion. After
refreshments, Rod Campbell and his band,
RTFM, will perform for us.
