Irish Cultural Society

of San Antonio Texas

The April meeting of the ICS was called to order by President Lou Kelley at 3:16pm.
Lou led us in a prayer in memory of longtime ICS board member, Bob Slattery. We
also prayed for Mary Anne Bundy, who is quite ill.
Sister Carmel led the invocation today, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Lou.
Bob Barron, treasurer, gave the quarterly report that included transactions through
March 31st. Our end-of-quarter balance in the checking account is $7,555.29. See
this month's handout from Bob for the details.
The minutes of the previous meeting in February were then read by the secretary.
Kay reported that we have 28 members and no guests present today. She said that
using e-mail is the preferred method of contacting members to send information, but
if you don't have an e-mail account, ICS information will be mailed to you using the
postal service. There were no PR or Library reports today.
Lou extended a heartfelt thank you to all who helped with the Irish festivities
throughout February and March.
He asked for a volunteer to head the nominating committee for June's election. There
was no volunteer during the meeting.
Scholarship chair announced that three essays were received by the March 31st
deadline, and that the committee was preparing to meet to decide the essay most
worthy of receiving the ICS scholarship this year.
Helena extended a thank you to all who helped make the Comhaltas convention here
in San Antonio in March a success. She announced that Gaelic language lessons will
begin at the Lion & Rose Pub at 410 and Blanco Road on May 2nd from 7-9pm.
There is no charge for the lessons.
The business meeting was adjourned at 3:48pm, to be followed by refreshments and
the scheduled program for the day.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan S. Feeley,
