The September meeting of the ICS was called to order by Vice-President
Tom Ryan at 3:10pm. After the invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance,
the minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Bob Barron gave his EOY(End of Year) treasurer's report, which was also
his final treasurer's report, as Dan White will take over those duties
in October. Bob passed out the budget for this coming year of ICS events
and activities. (Copy included with these minutes.) Dan White spoke
about his background and credentials to be our new treasurer. Tom Ryan
commended Dan for volunteering for this position and also thanked Bob
Barron for his service to the ICS these past few years. The new budget
was passed by the membership, Tom Macken making the motion for
acceptance and Henry McCann seconding him.
Kay Delaney, our membership chair, thanked those who have paid their
dues already and asked that those who haven't please do so as soon as
Today we have 48 members and 2 guests present. One of our new members
is Gay Grace.
Ethna Torres, our social chair, requested that we let her know whenever
one of our members is ill or distressed, so that she can send a card.
There were no library or scholarship reports today.
Helena Ryan, our new programs and plans chair, had many announcements
to make today. First of all, the October meeting has been changed
from the 17th to the 23rd as she and her husband will be out of town
over the weekend of the 17th. Sister Corinne Walsh from the University
of the Incarnate Word will be our speaker then. In November Helena has
arranged for Dr. Goodhugh from Trinity University to speak on W.B. Yeats
with a musical accompaniment by Joe DiMotti. Sister Carmel says there is
a keyboard in the church that can be used. The Christmas dinner will be
held on December 16th. See the flyer in the October newsletter for
details on the food choices and price. There will be live music played
during the evening. Helena has arranged a special rate of $65
for ICS members if you want to spend the night at the Airport Hilton
after the dinner.
January's meeting will be a review of the dances we need to know the
steps for to get out on the dance floor at the Noel Henry dance in
March. In February IHD will be held on February 19th, probably at
Leon Valley Community Center.
Father O'Gorman will be contacting the Noel Henry Band about available
dates to come to San Antonio this coming March. The parade will
actually be on St. Patrick's Day in 2012, as it is a Saturday. That
means that the wreath laying ceremony will take place on Friday, the 16th.
In April 15th Scott Burns, who writes a financial column for the San
Antonio Express-News, is slated to present a program to us. If you want
to know more about him, go to his website, www.scottburns.com. In May
the scholarship check will be presented to the high school senior who
writes the best essay following the parameters found on the scholarship
link at our ICS website.
After a few additional announcements, the meeting was adjourned at 3:58,
to be followed by the potluck dinner and program.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan S. Feeley
