The ICS Scholarship

Following a lengthy discussion which spanned nearly half a decade, the membership at large
approved the annual award of a $500 scholarship. The first opportunity to make the award
lacked any guidelines. Although the members of the society approved an award of the
scholarship, the need for guidelines was obvious. A guidelines committee was formed,
consolidated the ideas of its members and proposed the resultant set of guidelines to the
membership. These guidelines were approved by the membership at large. The second award
of the scholarship revealed a need for clear instructions to scholarship applicants, and in
the year 2001, the Society failed to award a scholarship, which suggests we need a standing
committee to watch over the various aspects of scholarship award.
